14  | 显庆元年，迁太子太傅。尝与右仆射张行成、中书令高季辅俱蒙赐地，志宁奏曰：「臣居关右，代袭箕裘，周魏以来，基址不坠。行成等新营庄宅，尚少田园，于臣有馀，乞申私让。」帝嘉其意，乃分赐行成及季辅。四年，表请致仕，听解尚书左仆射，拜太子太师，仍同中书门下三品。高宗之将废王庶人也。长孙无忌、褚遂良执正不从，而李绩、许敬宗密申劝请，志宁独无言以持两端。及许敬宗推鞫长孙无忌诏狱，因诬构志宁党附无忌，坐是免职，寻降授荣州刺史。麟德元年，累转华州刺史，年老请致仕，许之。二年，卒于家，年七十八。赠幽州都督，谥曰定。上元三年，追复其左光禄大夫、太子太师。志宁雅爱宾客，接引忘倦，后进文笔之士，无不影附，然亦不能有所荐达，议者以此少之。前后预撰格式律令、《五经义疏》及修礼、修史等功，赏赐不可胜计。有集二十卷。子立政，太仆少卿。志宁玄孙休烈，休烈子益，自有传。 |
