二十三年，太宗有疾，诏皇太子听政于金液门。四月，从幸翠微宫。太宗崩，以羽檄发六府甲士四千，卫皇太子入于京师。六月甲戌，即皇帝位于柩前。大赦，赐文武官勋一转，民八十以上粟帛，给复雍州及比岁供军所一年。癸未，长孙无忌为太尉。癸巳，检校洛州刺史李绩为开府仪同三司，参掌机密。八月癸酉，河东地震。乙亥，又震。庚辰，遣使存问河东，给复二年，赐压死者人绢三匹。庚寅，葬文皇帝于昭陵。九月甲寅，荆王元景为司徒，吴王恪为司空。乙卯，李绩为尚书左仆射、同中书门下三品。十一月乙丑，晋州地震。左翊卫郎将高偘伐突厥。是冬，无雪。
