104  | 附录：祝渊，字开美，癸酉举人。左都御史刘宗周之弟子。北兵至，不食。有难之曰：『子以草莽臣死节，无乃过乎』？渊曰：『吾以上书为世指名。夫名之所在，攘臂而争之；害之所在，畏首而避之：此何异市井贩夫之智也』。难者曰：『子不从犯，亦可逃之释氏乎』？渊曰：『释氏独非胡乎？舍彼而从此，则牛羊何择焉』？卒守志而死（或曰：时渊已病甚）。 |
