4 | 都督万鹿园先生表:万表,字民望,号鹿园宁波衞,世袭指挥佥事,年十七袭职读书,学古不失儒生本。分冦守天叙,勉以宁静澹泊先生揭诸座右,登正德庚辰,武㑹试,厯浙江把总、署都指挥佥事、督运浙江掌印、都指挥、南京大教塲坐、营漕运叅将、南京锦衣衞佥书、广西副总兵、左军都督、漕运总兵、南京中军都督府佥书,嘉靖丙辰正月卒,年五十九。先生功在漕运,其大议有三:一、三路转运以备不虞,置仓衞辉府,毎年以十分之二,拨中都运船兑凤阳各府粮米,由汴梁达武阳,陆路七十里输于衞辉,由衞河以达于京,松江通㤗,俱有沙船。淮安有海船时,常由海至山东转贸,宜以南京各总缺船衞,分坐兑松江太仓粮米,嵗运四五万石,达于天津,以留海运旧路,于是并漕河而为三:一本折通融丰年米贱,全运本色,如遇灾伤,则量减折色,凡本色至京,率四石而致一石,及其支给一石不过易银三钱,在外折色毎石七钱,若京师米贵则散本色,米贱则散折色一石而当二石,是寓常平之法,于漕运之中,一原立法,初意天下运船万艘,毎艘军旗十馀人,共计十万馀人,毎年辏集京师,茍其不废操练,不缺甲仗,是京营之外嵗有勤,王师十万,弹压边陲,其他利弊纤悉万全,举行而效之一时者,人共竒之,其大者卒莫之能行也。倭冦之乱,先生身亲陷阵,肩中流矢,其所筹画,亦多掣肘,故忠愤至死不忘,先生之学,多得之龙溪、念菴、绪山、荆川,而究竟于禅学,其时东南讲㑹甚盛,先生不喜干与,以为此辈未曽发心为道,不过依傍门戸,虽终日与之言,徒费精神,彼此何益?譬砺石之齿,顽铁纵使少有渐磨,自家所损亦多矣,先生尝言,圣贤切要,工夫莫先于格物,盖吾心本来具足格物者,格吾心之物也,为情欲意见所蔽,本体始晦,必扫荡一切,独观吾心,格之又格,愈研愈精,本体之物,始得呈露,是为格物格物则知自致也。龙溪谓古人格物之说,是千圣经纶之实学,良知之感应,谓之物是从,良知凝聚,出来格物,是致知实下手处,不离伦物感应,而证真修离格物,则知无从而致矣。吾儒与二氏毫厘不同,正在于此,其实先生之论格物最为谛当,格之又格而后本体之物呈露,即白沙之养出端倪也。宋儒所谓未发气象,亦即是,此龙溪之伦物感应,又岂能舍此而别有工?夫苐两家之言物不同,龙溪指物为实,先生指物为虚,凡天下之物摄于本体之初,本体之物又何尝离伦物哉?然两家皆精禅学先生,所谓本体呈露者真空也,龙溪离物,无知者妙有也。与宋儒白沙之论,虽似而有差,别学者又尝有辨矣。先生如京师大洲,访之郊外,与之谈禅,议论蜂涌,先生唯唯不答。大洲大喜,归语人曰:今日降却万鹿园矣。陆平泉闻而笑曰:此是鹿园降却,大洲何言!大洲降却鹿园也。戚南𤣥与先生遇,戏曰:鹿园名为旅禅,实未得理,是假和尚。先生曰:南𤣥名为宗儒,实未见性,是痴秀才相与大笑。先生一㸃一语,无非禅机如此。 |
