翟鹏字志南，武定人。正德乙未进士，歴官都御史。嘉靖庚子，起鹏于家。 偏保，河南、山东等处军务驻大同，有经济才畧。　不通质直端劲，外无悃愊，内 ，贿遗有前辈大臣、风节，柄臣恶之。北兵退，捃摭细故闲住。明年，敌又至，诸大臣益畏惧莫肯出。大同复起，鹏提督如故。以防御功歴升兵部尚书。甲辰，兵部议掣防秋兵太早，敌直犯紫荆。上大怒，逮鹏诏狱，谪戍邉。行至河西务，借宿民家，不纳告厰。以阎主事主事，挞民家，留鹏宿民家，告之东。 闻，复逮鹏，瘐死锦衣狱。
