4  | 道光辛丑秋七月，由粤西量移苏抚。受篆甫十日，即赴上海防堵，兼摄督篆。未几，奉命回苏州办理粮台。时扬威将军驻兵苏州，徵发调遣，事极繁重。馀昼理简书，夜则出巡城厢内外。甫匝月，而旧患眩晕之疾复作。十月廿八日，接见僚属之顷，忽扑地，几不起。即于十一月初二日，专折奏明，乞假调理，一面将抚篆送与程晴峰方伯接护。逾月，复奏请开缺调理，遂于此年正月中旬，奉到谕旨，准其开缺调理。于正月下旬，移居沧浪亭行馆。二月初旬，买舟挈家旋里。甫登舟之夜半，忽闻浙东芟夷猖獗，扬威将军由绍兴奔回杭州，钱塘江一带戒严，土寇乘机掠夺，行旅断绝，急报再至。遂与逢儿、恭儿商定，天未明即回舟北上，以避其氛。二月十七日，渡扬子江，抵邗上，沿途官吏，毫无见闻。舟泊钞关半日，而杨竹圃方伯簧、谢菽石观察学崇飞舆来接，晤谈至上烛而去。杨系亲家，谢系同年，所谓亲者无失其为亲，故者无失其为故也。盖至此始愈信宦场之无味矣。 |
