9  | 是日，诏：「傅尧俞、王岩叟、朱光庭以苏轼撰试䇿题不当，累有章疏，今看详得非是讥讽祖宗，只是论百官有司，奉行有过，令执政召逐人面谕，更不须弹奏」。丙寅，三人赴都堂，右仆射吕公著、门下侍郎韩维、中书侍郎吕大防、左丞李清臣、右丞刘挚谕㫖：三人者谓公著等皆知轼为有过，然特欲以上意两平之耳，皆不敢奉诏。丁卯，三人者又各上疏，岩叟言：「伏覩圣意周旋委曲，优容臣下，惟恐有伤，虽天地父母，无以过也，臣当何以报，惟知不敢爱身为陛下守官耳，茍避犯顔逆鳞之诛，而阿意顺㫖，不尽其心，以事陛下，则臣所不忍。臣按苏轼如圣谕非是讥讽祖宗，然只以祖宗置于议论之间，便是有伤大体，安得以为无罪？今陛下既不欲罪轼，又不欲罪臣等，而拟两罢其事，在慈仁兼爱之心，则可谓至矣，于朝廷欲以立纪纲、正典刑，则未为得也。后日他事若更烦陛下和解，则恐纪纲由此隳，典刑由此废，启侥幸之门，开陵迟之端，自臣等始，负陛下罪，不可容也。陛下听政以来，未尝有一事少差，此事更愿圣慈曲加思虑，必有所得者，臣愚不胜拳拳忠告之至」。贴黄：「臣窃闻有与轼为地，曲为之辞，以释其说，上欺天听者，愿陛下察其出于私意，不以为惑，则事遂矣」。 |
