13  | 癸丑，右正言、知制诰沈括假翰林侍读学士，为囘谢辽国使，西上閤门使、荣州刺使李评假四方馆使副之。萧禧久留不肯还，故遣括诣敌廷面议，括时按狱御史台，忽有是命，客皆为括危之。括曰：「顾才智不足以敌忾为忧，死生祸福非所当虑也」。即日请对，上谓括曰：「敌情难测，设欲危使人，卿何以处之？」括曰：「臣以死任之」。上曰：「卿忠义固当如此。然卿此行，系一时安危，卿安则边计安，礼义由中国出，较虚气无补于国，切勿为也」。 诏两浙路常平司续给米二万石赈济常、润州饥民。 |
