26  | 刘仲质，字文质，分宜人。洪武初，以宜春训导荐入京，擢翰林典籍，奉命校正《春秋本末》。十五年拜礼部尚书，命与儒臣定释奠礼，颁行天下学校。每岁春秋仲月，通礼孔子如仪。时国子学新成，帝将行释菜。侍臣有言：孔子虽圣，人臣也，礼宜一奠再拜。帝曰：「昔周太祖如孔子庙，左右谓不宜拜。周太祖曰：『孔子，百世帝王师，何敢不拜！』今朕有天下，敬礼百神，于先师礼宜加崇。」乃命仲质详议。仲质请帝服皮弁执圭，诣先师位前，再拜，献爵，又再拜，退易服。乃诣彝伦堂命讲，庶典礼隆重。诏曰「可」。又立学规十二条，合钦定九条，颁赐师生。已，复奉命颁刘向《说苑》、《新序》于学校，令生员讲读。是年冬改华盖殿大学士，帝为亲制诰文。坐事贬御史。后以老致仕。仲质为人厚重笃实，博通经史，文体典确，常当帝意焉。 |
