9  | 周玺，字天章，太湖人。𢎞治丙辰进士，累官给谏。刘瑾专权，玺疏其擅改成命，乞正典刑。瑾衔之，嘱迁顺天府丞，使去言路。时锦衣指挥杨玉附瑾，诬玺蔑视使臣，矫制下狱，令玉自鞫。玉杖之三十，玺不少屈，曰：「吾死不足惜，令忠义畏惧可惜耳」。瑾闻益怒，加杖之，遂死于狱。后瑾伏诛，正徳朝赐祭。世宗即位，复赐祭，荫其子。 |
