七月辛卯，诏省部、刑寺应诸刑奏案以时审定，已经奏闻，速与报下，庶免淹延。狱官不许兼职，俸薄者增给之。从臣僚请也。丁酉，以礼部尚书陈贵谊为端明殿学士、同签书枢密院事。甲辰，大雨雹。丁未，御集英殿试策进士，制策问略曰：『朕闻尧舜之帝、禹汤文武之王，莫不从事于学，如饥之必食，渴之必饮，未尝外道以出治，舍经以求治也。朕以眇陋，嗣承丕绪，于今九年，昧旦而朝，咨诹辅弼，延纳英隽，日御经筵，曰诵曰讲，咸有常准。然六经之道所以淹贯天人，维持世变者，至纤至悉，不可胜穷，而《治鉴》一书［4］，又所以著历代君臣之微恶以劝戒于后，皆莫先于修身而齐家，进君子而退小人，严名分而遏乱萌，修政事而攘夷狄，恤民隐而惧天变。朕深惟经训史策日陈于前，文字繁多，途辙遐阔，求其所以置力者，乃即闲燕，窃有慕古人缉熙光明之义，日就月将，躬履神会。盖以基治道之本，一人心之归，使普天率土，若士与民，繇内及外，悉共繇于理义，而无本末舛逆之患，上下异向之风，顾不伟欤?若夫商政治之得失，求民俗之利病，论士习之厚薄，则有所未暇。盖以本原既正，则他可以序举也。子大夫奉对于庭，其以有得于经史者，细绎而毕陈之，朕将亲览焉。』
