三月丁卯，捧日天武四厢都指挥使御前左军统制牛皋卒。前一日，都统制田师中大会诸将，皋遇毒而归，至是卒。或谓秦桧密令师中毒之，闻者莫不叹恨。已巳，上谓秦桧曰：『人材难得，惟在赏罚劝沮。卿可选用所知，若协济国事，得三五人，即庶僚胥化。其不靖害治者，显黜勿贷，庶知惩畏。』乙亥，签书枢密院事何若引疾，罢提举江州太平观。丁丑，知光州郑绍代还，乞令国子监裒集上即位以来惠民爱物手诏，编类刊印成书，守、令陛辞门谢日，人赐一秩。从之。己卯，翰林学士段拂参知政事。乙酉，太师、尚书左仆射、魏国公秦桧以郊恩徙封益国公。戊子，太傅、醴泉观使、清河郡王张俊移节靖江宁武靖海军，太傅、醴泉观使、咸安郡王韩世忠移节镇南武安宁国军。辛卯，上曰：『士大夫有专于为己而不肯任事者，但当与之禄食，使不失所而已。』金人与蒙国始和，岁遗牛羊米豆绵绢之属甚厚，于是蒙王熬罗孛极烈自称祖元皇帝，改元天兴。
