五月己亥朔，日有食之。上降服出次，百官各守其司。李筠复请北汉主举军南下，北汉主从之，倾国自将，出团柏谷［6］，群臣饯之汾水。赵华曰：『李筠举事轻易，事必无成。陛下扫境赴之，臣未见其可也。』北汉主拂衣上马，行至太平驿，遣其平章事卫融、宣徽使卢赞将兵救筠。筠留其长子守节守上党，自帅其众南出。上以畿甸委输京师，吏多旁缘为奸，民或咨怨，乙巳，命殿中侍御史王伸、监察御史王佑、户部郎中沈义伦等八人分领在京诸仓。丁巳，诏亲征，命吴廷祚为东京留守，吕馀庆副之。皇弟光义为大内都点检，韩令坤率兵屯河阳。己未，上发大梁。壬戌，西京留守向拱劝上急济河逾太行，乘贼未集而击之，稽留旬浃。则共锋益炽矣。赵普亦言：『贼意国家新造，未能出征。若倍道兼行，掩其不备，可一战而克。』上纳其言。甲子，次河阳。丙寅，次怀州。丁卯，石守信等破贼三万馀众于泽州南，获北汉节度使范守图，杀卢赞。筠遁入泽州，婴城自固。
