六月甲寅朔［4］，日有食之。丁巳，淮西宣谕使王之望奏：同诸将分定把截关隘、战守屯泊去处。上曰：『可分明札下王彦、王之望等，虽地分各有所管。然兵不可太分。如要逐处控扼，使虏人不过，兵家无此理，却要逐人回奏。须用持大兵于重害之地。』又曰：『使诸将各认地分则可，若有缓急，岂宜如此将兵力分在数处?』汤思退等奏：『圣鉴如此，兵见机要。』己巳，诏：『夷陵之地，今日为次边，利害下湖北京西路制置使司相度有无利便。又见屯夔路兵听邻州差拨。于夔州有无妨碍，下湖北路并夔州路安抚司同共相度经久利便，申取朝廷指挥。』
