五月丙寅，有芝生于化成殿柱，召近臣宗室观之，仍出御制《瑞芝》诗赐宰臣王随以下。翌日，儒臣并为赋颂以献。右司谏韩琦言：『《春秋》之法，但记灾异，至于祥瑞，略而不书。岂不以君阅瑞牒则意安，睹灾符则心惧?意安则政怠，心惧则德修，圣人垂戒之深，其旨斯在。臣愚望陛下特以灾异为重，一政教之间思所未至者，随其变而应之。至于珍样奇瑞，虽陛下仁爱所感，亦望以日慎一日，虽休勿休为念，则昊穹降銮，答陛下寅畏之心；生灵遂宜，蒙陛下慈惠之泽，自然时和岁丰，家给人足，永获上瑞之报也。』
