冬十一月壬申，日南至，合祭天地于南郊，大赦天下。上之在斋宫也，闻贵妃黄氏薨，始得疑疾。郊之日风雨大至，上震惧，始不怿，自是宗戚大臣以薨卒，闻者多不信矣。

戊辰嘉定元年春正月戊寅，右谏议大夫叶时、殿中侍御史黄畴若、监察御史章燮、馀崇龟等上言侂胄专政无君，僭上不道，乞枭其首领，置之淮甸，积尸丛冢之间，以谢天下。不许。辛巳，章再上，又不许。诏曰：『朕以眇躬，获遵洪业。所期恭已，治可致于无为；乃昧知人，失浸成于偏信。自奸臣之怙势，畏公议之靡容，屏蔽聪明，排斥忠直。利害莫从而上达，威福自得以下移。逮兹更化之初，亟出求言之令，倏再逾于月律，犹罕见于奏封。岂习俗相仍，激昂者寡?抑精诚弗至，顾忌者多?厥今百度未厘，二边未靖，人才乏而未究搜罗之术，民力困而未明惠养之方。救此弊端，宁无良策?乃若箴规主失，指摘奸邪，人所难言，朕皆乐听。倘有裨于事实，讵敢吝于褒章?其或过差，务从宽假。凡我缙绅之彦，暨于刍荛之微，久郁之怀，谅欣闻于申命。竭诚以告，庶共底于丕平。』壬午，监登闻鼓院王楠自河南通书回，持金人牒求韩侂胄函首。诏侍从、两省、台谏集议。丙戌，右谏议大夫叶时等复请枭韩侂胄，函首于两淮。诏三省、枢密院详议以闻。壬辰，同知枢密院事史弥远知枢密院事。起居郎许奕为金国通谢使，阁门舍人吴衡副之。
