庚寅大观四年春正月庚子朔，中丞吴执中言：『迩来诸路以八行贡者，臣谓所贵乎士者，为其能学知先王之道，其为行不悖于义而已。以亲病而割股，闾里小民时有能者，官有给赐，悯恤其愚有爱亲之心。而至于毁伤支体，用是以恤之。士而为此，是不知孝之道矣。然顶刺血，非圣人之教；常诵佛书，岂儒者之事哉?救其兄之溺，恤其女之贫，皆不足以为异。伏愿下之太学，俾长贰博士考以道义，别白是非，澄去冒滥。』从之。
