高邮派有王念孙，所著曰《读书杂志》、《广雅疏证》。引之为念孙子，所著曰《经义述闻》、《经传释词》。高邮自创一派，专以形声训诂校勘古书，于是千古沈晦不可解之文词，循其例，无不涣然冰释。俞樾踵其后，为《群经平议》，为《诸子平议》，为《古书疑义举例》，而后四部书之讹文脱简，重门洞开，可谓周、孔之扫夫，刘、班之嫡子。曾文正《圣哲画像记》推为集小学之大成，盖犹等夷之见矣。
