4  | 蔡发，字神与，博达古今，深究治道，清修苦节，世人贤之。承国録君严训，有志当世，而复秉执刚毅，不能与世俗相俯仰。因去游四方，见闻益广邃。于易象、天文、地理三式之说无所不通，而皆能订其得失。中年乃归筑室于武夷之阳，其间屡遭盗贼水火之变，履危蹈险，而浩然不以屑意。虽一介之微，不取杜门扫轨，専以读书教子为事，晚号牧堂老人。元定在娠时，先生尝以圣贤像设别室，使妻詹氏日夕瞻仰，以踵太任胎教之风，故元定生而颖悟，十嵗即教，使读《西铭》，稍长，遂以程氏《语録》、邵氏《经世》、张氏《正蒙授》曰：此孔孟正脉也。文公朱先生谓公平生所以教其子者，不干利禄而开之以圣贤之学，其志识髙逺，非世人所及。云所著有地理发微、天文、星象诸书，子元定。 运干蔡复斋先生沆 |
