苏　轼字子瞻。父洵，尝游学四方，母程氏亲授以书。嘉佑二年试礼部，欧阳修得轼刑赏，忠厚论惊喜，疑门人曾巩所为，乃置第二。复以《春秋》对议居第一，修曰：「吾当避此人出一头地」。治平二年，入判登闻鼓院。英宗自藩邸闻其名，欲召入翰林，知制诰，宰相韩琦曰：「轼才逺大器也，他日自当为天下用，今骤进，适以累之」。遂直史馆。熙宁中，王安石创行新法，轼上书论其不便，安石怒，使御史谢景温论奏其过，穷治无所得，轼遂请外，通判杭州，复徙知密、徐二州，再知湖州，多以诗寄慨。御史李定、舒亶媒蘖以为讪谤，欲置之死，神宗怜之，以黄州团练副使安置，量移汝州。元佑元年，迁中书舍人，寻除翰林学士。哲宗尝召对便殿，宣仁后曰：「先帝每诵卿文章，必叹曰：奇才奇才，但未及进用卿耳」。轼不觉哭失声，后与哲宗亦泣。已而命坐赐茶，撤御前金莲烛送归院。厯官礼部尚书兼端明殿学士。后坐元佑党籍，累贬儋耳，更三大赦，遂提举玉局观。归，卒于常州。高宗即位，赠资政殿学士，諡文忠。有《东坡集》数百巻行于世。
