1  | 明宗臣撰。臣字子相，扬州兴化人。嘉靖庚戌进士。除刑部主事，移吏部文选司，进稽勋司员外郎。以赙杨继盛，忤严嵩，出为福建参议，迁提学副使，卒于官。年仅三十有六。《明史文苑传》附载《李攀龙传》中。葢攀龙、徐中行、吴国伦、梁有誉及臣有「前五子」之称也。朱彝尊《明诗综》称臣所著有《方城集》，而此本实题《宗子相集》，其卷目与《明史艺文志》相合。王世贞志臣墓，称其寝瘵疾亟，门人稍次生平著述凡十馀卷梓之。则其集乃臣未没时所订定也。臣常与吴国伦论诗不胜，归而精思累日月，卒能卓然成家，为「嘉靖七子」之一。其诗跌宕俊逸，颇能取法青莲，而意境未深，间伤浅俗。《静志居诗话》谓「使其不遇王、李，充之不难与昌谷、苏门伯仲。自入七子之社，渐染习气，日以窘弱，最可惋惜」。所言诚切中其病。然天才婉秀，吐属风流，究无剽剟填砌之习，本质犹未尽漓也。惟《竹间》诸篇，体近纤仄，未免汩没于时趋耳。 |
