1  | 咸丰二年冬，湖北巡抚常大淳奏言：「寇水陆攻武昌，船炮充斥。闻湖南大军有广西炮船，江南水师有广艇炮船及中小号炮船，请调集江上下游，乃可制遏贼势，断其粮运。」诏徐广缙等饬行。时武备弛，徒存水师名，无船也。徐广缙奏，有卢应翔以炮船战于长沙，长沙人未之闻，及诏问乃知云。陆建瀛防江，有大小三版八桨船。向荣奏遣张国梁率湖南炮船。所谓湖南炮船者，以民船载炮。诏徵登州水师船，亦募商舟。及寇破武昌东下，连舟数千，皆商舟也。祥厚奏言，江宁留船十，以分防芜湖、梁山已足矣，其不知水战如此。 |
