秋七月乙亥，立晋安王纲为皇太子，大赦。赐为父后者，及出处忠孝、文武清勤，并爵一级。庚寅，诏宗戚有服属者，并赐汤沐食，乡亭侯各随远近以为差次。壬辰，以吏部尚书何敬容为尚书右仆射。

太宗简文皇帝讳纲，字世赞，小字六通，武帝第三子，昭明太子母弟也。天监二年十月丁未，生于显阳殿。五年，封晋安王。普通四年，累迁都督、雍州刺史。中大通三年，被徵入朝，未至，而昭明太子谓左右曰：「我梦与晋安王对奕扰道，我以班剑授之，王还，当有此加乎。」四月，昭明太子薨。五月丙申，立晋安王为皇太子。七月乙亥，临轩策拜。以修缮东宫，权居东府。四年九月，移还东宫。

及简文帝即位，改元为大宝元年。帝以简文制于贼臣，卒不遵用。正月，使少子方晷质于魏，魏不受质而结为兄弟。

十月辛丑朔，紫云如盖临江陵城。是月，简文帝崩，开府仪同三司王僧辩等奉表劝进。帝奉讳，大临三日，百官缟素，答表不许。司空南平王恪率宗室，领军将军胡僧佑率群僚，江州别驾张佚率吏人，并奉笺劝进。帝固让。

太平元年春正月戊寅，大赦。追赠谥简文帝诸子。封故永安侯确子后为邵陵王，奉携王后。癸未，震州刺史杜龛降，诏赐死，赦吴兴郡。己亥，以太保宜丰侯萧循袭封鄱阳王。东扬州刺史张彪围临海太守王怀振于剡岩。
