《册府元龟》:天宝四载九月,诏曰波斯经教,出自大秦,传习而来。久行中国,爰初建寺,因以为名。将以示人必循其本。其两京波斯寺,宜改为大秦寺。天下诸州郡宜准此。此大秦寺建立之缘起。而碑言贞观中,即诏赐名大秦寺,夷僧之夸词也。《舒元舆重岩寺碑》云,合天下三夷寺,不足当吾释寺一小邑之教。释寺唯一,夷寺有三,摩尼即末尼也,大秦即景教也,祆神即波斯也。今据元舆记而详考之。《长安志》曰:布政司西南隅胡袄祠,武德四年立,西域胡天神也。祠有萨宝府官,主祠祆神,亦以胡祝称其职。《东京记》引《四夷朝贡图》云:康国有神名祆,毕国有火祆祠,疑因是建庙。王溥唐会要》云:波斯国,西与吐番康居接,西北距拂菻即大秦也,其俗事天地、日月、水火诸神。西域诸胡事火祆者,皆诣波斯受法,故曰波斯教,即火祆也。宋人姚宽曰:火祆字从天,胡神也。经所谓摩醯首罗,本起大波斯国,号苏鲁支。有弟子名元真,居波斯国大总长如火山后,化行于中国。然祆神专主事火,而宽以为摩醯首罗者。以波斯之教事天地水火之总,故诸胡皆诣受教,不专一法也。大秦之教本不出于波斯,及阿罗诃者出,则自别于诸胡。碑言三百六十五种之中,或空有以沦二,或祷祀以邀福,彼不欲过而问焉。初假波斯之名以入长安,后乃改名以立异。若末尼,则志磐统纪,序之独详开元二十年敕云。末尼本是邪儿,妄称佛法既为西胡师法,其徒自行,不须科罚。会昌三年秋,敕京城女末尼,凡七十二人皆死。梁贞明六年,陈州末尼反,立毋乙为天子,发兵禽斩之。其徒不茹荤酒,夜聚淫秽,画魔王踞坐佛为洗足,云佛上大乘,我乃上上乘。盖末尼为白云白莲之流,于三种中为最劣。以元舆三夷寺之例,核而断之。三夷寺皆外道也,皆邪教也,所谓景教流行者,皆夷僧之黠者。稍通文字妄为之词,非果有异于摩尼祆神也钱民《景教考》
