1  | 廷弼，号芝岗，湖广江夏人。躯长七尺馀，少髯，有膂力，能左右射。年二十九，万历丁酉解元，戊戌进士，授保定府推官，召入为御史，特命巡抚辽东。辛亥，督学南畿，中蜚语归。己未，杜松等败衄，神宗用御史杨鹤言，召公前往宣慰，随授兵部侍郎，代杨镐经略辽东，赐剑。以八月初三受命，整顿年馀。会熹宗立，与中朝议多不合，为阅科姚宗文构退，而以袁应泰代之。四阅月而辽阳亡。 |
