14  | 吴曾《能改斋漫录》云：仁宗尝御便殿，有二近侍争辩，声闻御前。仁宗召 问之，曰：甲言贵贱在命，乙言贵贱由至尊。帝默然，即以二小金合各书数字藏 于中。曰：「先到者保奏给事有劳推恩。」封秘甚严。先命乙携一往内东门司， 约及半道，命甲携一继往。无何，内东门司保奏甲推恩。仁宗怪问之，乃是乙至 半道足跌伤甚，莫能行，甲遂先到。与时按：唐张拧冻野佥》载魏徵为仆射， 有二典事之长参。时徵方寝，二人窗下平章。一人曰：「我等官职总由此老翁。」 一人曰：「总由天上。」徵闻之，遂作一书遗曰此老翁者，送至侍郎处，云与此 人一员好官。其人不知，出门心痛，凭由天者送书。明日引注，由老翁者被放， 由天上者得留。徵怪而问焉，且以实对，乃叹曰：「官职禄科由天者，盖不虚也。」 二事盖只一事，曾传闻之误耳。圣君、贤相一祝一笑，犹当爱之，岂肯激于一 夫之言，而轻用庆赏郑公之事已不足信，而我仁宗皇帝岂为是哉 |
