1  | 日本国在东海之东，古称倭奴国，或云恶其旧名，故改名日本，以其国近日所出也。其土疆所至与国王世系及物产风俗，见宋史本传。日本为国，去中土殊远，又隔大海，自后汉历魏、晋、宋、隋皆来贡。唐永徽、显庆、长安、开元、天宝、上元、贞元、元和、开成中，并遣使入朝。宋雍熙元年，日本僧奝然，与其徒五六人浮海而至，奉职贡，并献铜器十馀事。奝然善隶书，不通华言。问其风土，但书以对，云其国中有五经书及佛经、白居易集七十卷。奝然还后，以国人来者曰滕木吉，以僧来者曰寂照。寂照识文字，缮写甚妙。至熙宁以后，连贡方物，其来者皆僧也。 |
