96  | 李晟，字良器，洮州人。年十八，事王忠嗣，从击吐蕃悍酋，杀伤甚衆，晟挟一矢殪之，三军欢奋，忠嗣抚背曰：「万人敌也！」晟每与贼战，必锦裘绣㡌，自表指顾军前，懐光曰：「将务持重，岂宜自表暴为贼饵哉？」晟曰：「昔泾原士颇相畏服，欲令见之，夺其心耳！」后懐光军咸阳，有异志，隂通朱泚，反迹寖露，晟惧为所并，上言当究变制备，适有使者到晟军，晟乃令曰：「有诏徙屯」。即结阵趋东渭桥。 帝进狩梁州，顾浑瑊曰：「渭桥在贼腹中，兵孤絶，晟能辨胜邪？」瑊曰：「晟秉义挺忠，崒然不可夺，臣策必破贼」。帝乃安。时晟提孤军，恐当二盗合以轧之，则伪致诚于懐光，乃下令曰：「见危死节，自吾之分。公等此时不诛元㓙，取富贵，非豪英也。渭桥断贼首尾，吾欲与公戮力一心，建不世之功，可乎？」士皆泣曰：「惟公命」。于是骆元光等悉从。晟懐光惧畏，为晟所袭，乃奔河中。 帝益欲西幸，晟请驻梁、汉以系天下。望及晟家为贼，质左右有言者，晟涕曰：「陛下安在，而暇恤家乎？」晟自东渭桥移壁光泰门以薄都城。贼将求战，晟曰：「天诱之矣！」勒吴诜等纵兵击之，大破之，馀党悉降。晟引军屯含元外廷，遣人分慰居民，秋毫无所扰露。布至，梁帝感泣，羣臣上夀，且言晟荡夷㐫憝，市不易㕓，宗庙不振，长安之人不识旗鼔。帝曰：「天生晟，为社稷万人，岂独朕哉！」拜中书令，自纪其功于碑。泾州倚边，晟因以训耕积粟实塞下，羁制西戎。 晟每进对，謇謇有大臣节。治家严所言，未尝及公事。有十五子，其闻者愿、宪、诉、听云。 |
