27  | 左鼎，字周器，永新人。正统进士。授御史。巡按山西。乘舆北狩，悉心画战守。时兵荒洊臻，请蠲太原诸府税粮，停大同转饷夫以苏其困。也先请和，抗言不可，引宋景德、靖康事为鉴。寻以山东、河南饥，遣鼎巡视，民赖以安。景泰四年以灾异偕同官陈救弊恤民七事。末言：「大臣不乏奸囘，宜黜罢其尤，用淸政本」。帝善其言，下诏甄别。吏部尚书何文渊、通政使李锡竟由是去。鼎居官淸勤，卓有声誉。御史练纲以敢言名，而鼎犹善为章奏京师语曰：「左鼎手，练纲口」。英宗复位，为左佥都御史。逾年卒。 |
