79  | 张位，字明成，新建人。隆庆进士，改庶吉士，授编修，预修《世宗实録》，位以前代皆起居注，而本朝独无疏，言史官充位无以自効，宜日分数人入直，凡诏㫖起居，朝端政务，皆据见闻书之，待内阁裁定，为他年实録之助。张居正善其议，奏行焉，后以救吴中行、赵用贤忤居正意，谪徐州同知，用荐擢南京尚寳丞，俄召为左中允、管司业事，进祭酒，疏陈六事，多议行。以礼部右侍郎、教习庶吉士，引疾归，诏起故官，协理詹事府，辞不赴，乆之，以申时行荐，拜吏部左侍郎兼东阁大学士。王锡爵还朝，帝适降，谕三王并封，假待嫡为辞，而位遽请帝笃修交泰，早召高禖，议者窃哂之。锡爵去，赵志臯为首辅，位与志臯相厚善，志臯以位精悍敢任政事，多所裁决。进礼部尚书，改文渊阁。以甘肃破贼叙功，加太子太保。复以延镇功，进少保、吏部尚书，改武英殿位。初官翰林，声望甚重，朝士冀其大用。及入政府，素望渐衰。主事丁应泰劾杨镐丧师，言位与镐密书往来，朋党欺罔，镐拔擢由贿位得之。帝恕下廷议，遂夺职闲住，除名为民。位有才，果于自用，任气好矜，其败也，廷臣莫之救。天啓中，复官，赠太保，谥文端。著有《闲云馆集丛、桂山房稾。 |
