九月己巳，金遣董师中等来贺重明节，庚午，重明节，百官上寿。侍从、两省请帝朝重华宫，不听。己卯，上寿圣皇太后尊号曰寿圣隆慈备福皇太后。壬午，遣倪思等使金贺正旦。甲申，帝将朝重华宫，皇后止帝，中书舍人陈傅良引裾力谏，不听。戊子，著作郎沉有开、秘书郎彭龟年、礼部侍郎倪思等咸上疏，请朝重华宫。

是时，帝久不朝太上，中外疑骇。绍熙四年九月重明节，宰执、侍从，台谏连章请帝过宫。给事中谢深甫言：「父子至亲，天理昭然。太上之爱陛下，亦犹陛下之爱嘉王。太上春秋高，千秋万岁后，陛下何以见天下？」帝感悟，趣命驾朝重华宫。是日，百官班列俟帝出，至御屏，后挽留帝入，曰：「天寒，官家且饮酒。」百僚、侍卫相顾莫敢言。中书舍人陈傅良引帝裾请毋入，因至屏后，后叱曰：「此何地，尔秀才欲所头邪？」傅良下殿恸哭，后复使人问曰：「此何理也。」傅良曰：「子谏父不听，则号泣而随之。」后益怒，遂传旨罢还宫。其后孝宗崩，帝不能亲执丧。

绍熙四年九月二十日，仁孝殂，年七十。在位五十五年，改元大庆四年，人庆五年，天盛二十一年，乾佑二十四年。諡曰圣德皇帝，庙号仁宗，陵号寿陵。子纯佑嗣。
