| 21 | 刘作肃，字敬亭，奉天承德县人。道光元年举人，选知县，授天河县。历宁明知州，兼明江同知。咸丰三年，贼众万馀攻城，相持五月馀，解围去。以城守功加知府，赏花翎。六年，署太平知府，贼屡来犯，御却之。十年，复来。城中无储粟，贼围亟，守陴者皆走。城陷，作肃投池，水浅，不能死，为贼拥去。以其居官清廉，不忍害之。作肃乃吟绝命辞，绝粒死。其弟与仆姚云、吴贵同殉。妻赵及子家祥、女等皆先自尽。以子家凤被执不屈死，恤如制。赏世职，建祠府城，二仆并赐恤。 |
