97  | 蹇谔，字一士，贵州遵义人。道光二十六年举人。咸丰三年，大挑得教职。明年，谔还自京，适桐梓教匪杨龙喜作乱，长驱出娄山关，逼遵义。知府朱右曾要击，败还。贼遂以八月十六日围城，营郭外雷台山。是时黔中治平久，民老死不见兵革，初遭寇乱，众汹汹欲溃。独谔力言贼可击，于是人心稍定。久之，官兵渐集，而贼亦日附。谔谒提督赵万春、布政使炳纲于螺琅堰，陈利害，请由石盘扼贼粮，拊其背，自领兵练四百人营马家河，复募二百人益之，屡战皆捷。 |
