子文都，性梗直，仕周为右侍上士。隋开皇初，授内史舍人。炀帝即位，累迁御史大夫，坐事免。未几，授太府卿，甚有当时誉。大业十三年，帝幸江都宫，诏文都与段达、皇甫无逸、韦津等同为东都留守。帝崩，文都与达、津等共推越王侗为帝。侗署文都为内史令、开府仪同三司、光禄大夫、左骁卫大将军、摄右翊卫将军、鲁国公。

九年，驾复幸辽东，命子盖东都留守。属杨玄感作逆，逼城，子盖遣河南赞务裴弘策逆击之，反为所败，遂斩弘策以徇。国子祭酒杨汪小不恭，子盖又将斩之。
