9  | 二年二月庚子，以王安石参知政事。初，帝欲用安石，曾公亮力荐之，唐介言安石难大任，帝曰「文学不可任邪。经术不可任邪。吏事不可任邪」介对曰「安石好学而泥古，故议论迂阔，若使为政，必多所更变」介退，谓曾公亮曰「安石果大用，天下必困扰。诸公当自知之」帝问侍读孙固曰「安石可相否」固对曰「安石文行甚高，处侍从献纳之职可矣。宰相自有度，安石狷狭少容。必欲求贤相，吕公著、司马光、韩维其人也」帝不以为然，竟以安石参知政事，谓之曰「人皆不能知卿，以卿但知经术，不晓世务」安石对曰「经术正所以经世务」帝曰「卿所施设，以何为先」安石对曰「末世风俗，贤者不得行道，不肖者得行无道，贱者不得行礼，贵者得行无礼。变风俗，立法度，正方今之所急也」帝深纳之。 |
