昔葛天八闋，爰乃皇時，黄帝雲門，理不空綺，堯有《大唐》之詠，舜造《南風》之詩，大禹成功，九敘惟歌，太康敗德，五子咸怨，其來久矣。逮夫漢武崇禮，樂府始興，自後郊廟燕射，悉著篇章，諸調雜舞，多被絲莞，雖新聲代變，厥有繇然。今故特錄古歌，庸置首簡，其他琴曲歌謡，後各類次，不復繁兹。若夫塗山歌》於候人，有娀謡乎飛燕，夏甲歎於東陽，殷氂思於西河，凡斯之屬，名存辭佚，亦具紀焉。彈歌，《呉越春秋》曰：越王欲謀復呉，范蠡進善射者。陳，音音，楚人也。越王請音而問曰：孤聞子善射，道何所生？音曰：臣聞弩生于弓，弓生於彈彈，起于古之孝子，不忍見父母為禽獸所食，故作彈以守之。乃歌曰歌。劉勰云：黃歌斷竹，質之至也。又曰：斷竹黃 ，乃二言之始。斷竹續竹，飛土逐宍，「續」，一作「屬」。宍，古肉字。今《呉越春秋》作「害」非。《皇娥歌》，王子年《拾遺記》曰：少昊以金德王母曰皇娥處璇宮而夜織，或乘桴木而晝遊經歴，窮桑滄茫之浦，時有神童容貌，絶俗稱為白帝之子。即太白之精降乎水際，與皇娥讌戲並坐，撫桐峯，梓瑟皇娥倚瑟而清歌云云。白帝子答歌云云。及皇娥生少昊，號曰窮桑氏。　　　　　　　　　　皇娥
