27  | 乜姑先已在門首探望，見賽牛著兒子歸來，遠遠便叫道：「我的肉，回來了麼？」一把攙他進門，撫其背，摩其面，又問道：「可曾嚇壞麼？」寶兒恐老牛埋怨，便放刀起來，向著乜姑大哭道：「我那曉得府中唱戲，都是習伯善等哄我同往。到晚又撇我先歸。我又不認得府中路徑，以致誤入內閣，被逃照虞侯，擒閉班房，聲言要立時處死。唬得我魄喪魂飛，險些不得見娘之面。」乜姑偏信其言，便要趕到習家去廝鬧。賽牛解勸道：「休盡怪了別人，若自家立定主意，不肯去時，難道他們把鏈子拖你去不成？」乜姑大罵道：「老賊牛，據你說起來，我的孩兒該被他們哄去害死的麼？」罵之不已。把賽牛連揸幾個頭拳，正撞在心口之內，賽牛一時就發暈倒地，口吐血沫。乜姑只是嚷罵道：「你這樣黑心老牛，妝模詐死，可是要圖賴我殺夫麼？」誰知賽牛吐沫個不住，眼目緊閉，手足如冰。家人扶到牀上，毫不轉動。乜姑母子方信其非詐，方把茶湯去灌醒，賽牛惟有吁吁歎氣，自此遂成氣蠱之疾。 |
