道家 -> 庄子 -> 外篇 -> 知北游 -> 6.1

东郭子问于庄子曰：Dong-guo Zi asked Zhuangzi, saying,
“所谓道，恶乎在？” 'Where is what you call the Dao to be found?'
庄子曰： Zhuangzi replied,
“无所不在。” 'Everywhere.'
东郭子曰： The other said,
“期而后可。”'Specify an instance of it. That will be more satisfactory.'
庄子曰：
“在蝼蚁。” ' It is here in this ant.'
曰：
“何其下邪？” 'Give a lower instance.'
曰：
“在稊稗。” 'It is in this panic grass.'
曰：
“何其愈下邪？” 'Give me a still lower instance.'
曰：
“在瓦甓。” 'It is in this earthenware tile.'
曰：
“何其愈甚邪？” 'Surely that is the lowest instance?'
曰：
“在屎溺。” 'It is in that excrement.'
东郭子不应。 To this Dong-guo Zi gave no reply.
