邾娄定公之时，In the time of duke Ding of Zhu-lou,
有弑其父者。 there occurred the case of a man killing his father.
有司以告， The officers reported it;
公瞿然失席曰：when the duke, with an appearance of dismay, left his mat and said,
“是寡人之罪也。” 'This is the crime of unworthy me!'
曰： He added,
“寡人尝学断斯狱矣： 'I have learned how to decide on such a charge.
臣弑君， When a minister kills his ruler,
凡在官者杀无赦； all who are in office with him should kill him without mercy.
子弑父， When a son kills his father,
凡在宫者杀无赦。 all who are in the house with him should kill him without mercy.
杀其人， The man should be killed;
坏其室， his house should be destroyed;
洿其宫而猪焉。 the whole place should be laid under water and reduced to a swamp.
盖君逾月而后举爵。” And his ruler should let a month elapse before he raises a cup to his lips.'
