| | Boxuan was Xu Decheng. The Dao has four categories: first is Heaven, second is Earth, third is Humanity, and fourth is Fate. Humanity has five levels: first is Baixi, second is Shiqi, third is Ruoxi, fourth is Siyi, and fifth is Tuli. What is called "Heaven" refers to the principle governing things and emotions. What is called "Earth" refers to that which remains constant and never departs. What is called "Humanity" refers to those who hate death and love life. What is called "Fate" refers to that which none can be without a ruler. A ruler is one who upholds divine wisdom and clarity. Divine wisdom takes people as its foundation; people take the virtuous and sage as their foundation; the virtuous and sages take broad selection as their foundation; broad selection takes the five levels of humanity as its foundation. Therefore, if one faces north to serve them, those at the level of Baixi will come. If one hurries forward before resting and asks questions before falling silent, those at the level of Shiqi will arrive. If others hurry when you hurry, those at the level of Ruoxi will appear. If one leans on a table, holds a cane, and gives orders with gestures, those at the level of Siyi will come. And if one exhales sharply or scolds, then those at the level of Tuli will arrive. Therefore, an emperor dwells with his teacher; a king dwells with his friend; and a failed ruler dwells with his servants.
