| 《·》: | 此与彼同类，世有彼而不自非也，墨者有此而非之，无他故5焉，所谓内胶外闭与心毋空乎？ |
| This and those are of the same kind; the world have those and don't oppose themselves, [yet] we Mohists have this and they oppose us. There can be no other reason than that they are stopped up within and closed without; their heart-minds are all filled in! |
| 《·》: | 子曰：“学而时习之，不亦说乎？” |
| The Master said, "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application?" |
| 《·》: | 王曰：“叟不远千里而来，亦将有以利吾国乎？” |
| The king said, 'Venerable sir, since you have not counted it far to come here, a distance of a thousand li, may I presume that you are provided with counsels to profit my kingdom?' |
| 《·》: | 而我犹代子，吾将为名乎？ |
| If I in these circumstances take your place, shall I not be doing so for the sake of the name? |
| 《·》: | 吾言砥可行乎？ |
| Are my words sound, and can they be put in force? |
| 《·》: | 今人而无礼，虽能言，不亦禽兽之心乎？ |
| Here now is a man who observes no rules of propriety; is not his heart that of a beast? |
| 《》: | 天地之间，其犹橐龠乎？ |
| May not the space between heaven and earth be compared to a bellows? |
| 《·》: | 多算胜，少算不胜，而况于无算乎？ |
| Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! |
| 《·》: | 汝知之乎？ |
| Do you know what it was? |
| 《·》: | 嚚讼可乎？ |
| He is insincere and quarrelsome - can he do? |
| 《·》: | 豫，顺以动，故天地如之，而况建侯行师乎？ |
| In this condition we have docile obedience employing movement (for its purposes), and therefore it is so as between heaven and earth; - how much more will it be so (among men) in 'the setting up of feudal princes and putting the hosts in motion!' |
| 《·》: | 公曰：“清商固最悲乎？” |
| 《·》: | 张天下以为之笼，因江海以为罟，又何亡鱼失鸟之有乎？ |
| 《·》: | 楚人遗弓，楚人得之，又何求乎？ |
| 《·》: | 妄人者，门庭之间，犹可诬欺也，而况于千世之上乎？ |
| 《》: | 寡人有弟，不能和协，而使糊其口于四方，其况能久有许乎？ |
