《臨海異物志》曰：招潮，小如彭螖，殼白。依潮長，背坎外向，舉螯不失常期，俗言招潮水也。

《嶺表錄異》曰：招潮鐘，亦蟛蜞之屬，殼帶白色。海畔多潮，潮欲來，皆出坎舉螯如望，故俗呼招潮也。
