1 祖载:
《周礼·春官·丧祝》曰：掌大丧，及朝，御柩，乃奠；朝，将葬朝于祖考庙。及祖，饰棺，及载，遂御之。祖，将葬祖于庭。

2 祖载:
《礼记·檀弓》曰：殡于客位，祖于庭，所以即远也。

3 祖载:
《仪礼·既夕》曰：既夕哭，请启期，告于殡。夙兴，设盥于祖庙门外。祖，王父也。下士祖祢共庙。有司请祖期。将行而饮食曰祖。祖，始也。

4 祖载:
《白虎通》曰：祖于庭何？夺孝子之恩也。祖，始。始载于庭也。乘车辞祖祢，故为祖载也。
